Design Details was founded in 1989 by principal Charles W Cameron, after graduation from Boston Architectural Center.  Since then the firm has designed, decorated, and overseen construction on hundreds of residential and commercial projects including stores and restaurants, loft conversions, adaptive re-use projects, and residential remodels.

Kitchens, baths, and fine furniture cabinetry have become a major focus of our work in the past 10 years. We have established connections to many of the best sources for quality casework, and components. Of special note are the artisans at Heritage Custom Cabinetry and Ovation Cabinetry. With their help we are able to accomplish designs of an unusually high degree of detail in a great number of styles and finishes.

The cabinet industry in Canada has matured immensely in the last 10 years and many component parts of cabinets manufactured in the U.S. are produced there. Our international partners at Cuisines M.R.S. are able to produce a very high level of customization for us while still staying within the medium price range of the Canadian market.

We prefer to keep a close working relationship with our clients, making us partners pursuing a common goal.  Good communications and careful planning can simplify the most complex project and help assure that it runs smoothly and on budget.

This is extremely important when a project involves more than a kitchen. Additions make up a large portion of our work and integrating additional square footage into an existing floor plan can be a formidable challenge. Using interactive 3D software we are able to share designs with our clients instantly via email, get approvals and send accurate information immediately to the general contractor and subs.

Many of our customers are on their second or even third project with us. That, to us, is our measure of success.

Some interiors are a design statement. Others simply produce a feeling of comfort and satisfaction. The most successful ones do both.
